Fostr

Field-first case management software for child welfare and foster care agencies.

Fostr is built to cut caseworkers' paperwork so they can spend more time with youth. Caseworkers record a visit once, and Fostr fills what the record already knows into the agency's own forms.

FAQ

Most of a caseworker's day never reaches a kid.

where does it go?

It goes into forms. Intake, case notes, court prep, the state's system. The same facts, typed over and over.

whose fault is that?

Not the worker's. No one chose this career for their love of paperwork.

so what do you do?

Fostr takes it down once, during the visit, and sends it everywhere it's owed.

and it's accurate?

Court filings can't be mostly right. Every line Fostr produces traces back to something in the record. No guessing.

TRACED TO VISIT 03/14

Visit note 03/14: K. at kinship placement, doing homework at the kitchen table. Said she feels safe here.

COURT PREP · DRAFT

The child was present at the placement on March 14 and reported feeling safe.

who is this for?

We're starting with child welfare, alongside the people already doing the work. Group homes, elder care, anywhere reporting is eating the job. That comes next.

PILOTING WITH CHILD-WELFARE AGENCIES IN NEW ENGLAND
Jaden, founder: I was in the Massachusetts foster care system. The people responsible for me cared. They also had a stack of forms taller than I was. That's why Fostr exists.

The whole thing, in one place

Paperwork should never come before a kid.

The problem
Most of a caseworker's day never reaches a kid. It goes into forms, the same facts typed over and over.
What Fostr does
Capture it once, during the visit, and send it everywhere it's owed. Every line traces back to the record, so it holds up in court.
Who it's for
Child welfare first, alongside the people already doing the work. Group homes and elder care come next.
Questions, answered

Record a visit once, on your agency's own form. Fostr fills in details the record already holds, like the child's name and date of birth. It also carries some answers onto your agency's other forms, such as monthly and court reports. It does not send anything to a state system, or file anything with a court or any other authority for you.

Child-welfare and foster-care agencies and their caseworkers. We work with agencies, not with individuals.

Not with real records yet. Agencies can try a demonstration that is set up for made-up records only. Real records come only after an agency signs a written agreement with us.

Pick the child and the form. Fostr fills in what the record already knows, and you answer the rest. Type your notes, or write them with Apple Pencil in our iPad app, which is still in testing and not yet available to agencies. Fostr turns your handwriting into text for you to check. Fostr won't let you save or sign a form until every required question has an answer.

Not directly. It does not connect to a state system or to other case software, so it does not keep them in sync. We set it up with your agency's own forms, so finished documents look the way they do today. Answers Fostr drafts or copies for you can be undone in one step before you save. Once a record is signed, it is sealed and can't be changed.

Yes, to write drafts. When a worker asks, Fostr fills in answers drafted from that worker's own notes. Each one shows the notes it came from, and none becomes part of the record until the worker saves the form. Fostr also drafts a short summary of each child's record, marked for workers to check. With real records, drafting will run only on Amazon Bedrock, an AI service from Amazon Web Services, in the United States; that isn't switched on yet. Our demonstration, which is set up for made-up records only, uses Anthropic's AI service directly. No AI model is trained on your data.

When Fostr drafts answers from a worker's notes, each draft shows the notes it came from. Fostr drops any draft that doesn't point back to them. No draft becomes part of the record until the worker saves the form. Before the record is filed in Fostr, the worker confirms it is complete and accurate and signs it. Once signed, the record is sealed and can't be changed, and Fostr's audit log records who did what. Whether a court accepts a document is up to the court.

Fostr runs in a web browser. Our iPad app is built and in testing, but it isn't available to agencies yet. If you have questions about devices, talk to us.

No. Fostr fills in what the record already knows, so there's less to write, but caseworkers still write their own notes, check each form and sign it. The work and the judgment stay theirs.
